Life itself is the gamble. As much as we are accustomed to waking up every morning, we all understand that there will be a morning that we do not.
Considering our own mortality is, understandably, not something most people want to do regularly. The stressors that we face each day, and the hopes we have for the future, are much more pressing topics that feel they need addressing. I have been told things like, "I know I need it, but I don't need it yet." And there is some truth to that. But there's two problems:
1.) You aren't the one who needs it. Those people that rely on you are the ones who need you to get it.
2.) By the time you "NEED" it, you may not be able to get it.
I help my clients through these decisions by pairing the conversation with a more enjoyable experience. Sometimes these conversations happen on my raft, while we float down the river and fish. Sometimes they happen over barbecue, that I've smoked myself. It's even happened around a firepit on a crisp clear evening.
Planning for the unexpected is much easier when you are where you can comfortably talk out your thoughts and priorities. Let's talk.
